The art world is dark, the embers and sparks Are lighting up the exit way as you disembark You take a last look with upstaged eyes You only have the power that your title implies I was a delegate at a meeting of the minds And I came out worried for the future of our kind. Well I can tell when something's done well It's got a certain sound and a certain smell So hoist up the sails, and lift off the veils I'm gonna show you all what this provision entails I was a delegate at a meeting of the minds And I came out worried for the future of our kind.
3.
Driving out in the country with a girl I met outside Her hand was folded over mine It's hard to imagine, with all the medicine on your mind But I can't help it if I feel fine. Back in Toronto, motherfuckers watch our style Scribbling in notebooks all the while They try to envision what it's like to be on our side I don't think they should even try.
4.

Big city girls have a mixed effect on me What kind of woman do you figure you will turn out to be? Two types of person have wandered through my door One kind comes back often, and the other comes no more In some ways, I like it better than before. Standing by the rolling waters, Mystified, your sons and daughters Mourn that, while the years kept passing by, You had to hold on to your hate, The everlasting hate, the malleable hate. Big city girls have a strange philosophy Too many people try to make you think that they hold the key.
6.
Summer kids they run all wild They strut and preen through fall and winter And you can't dispute their style The logic bends, distorts and splinters Oh, I got functioning eyes, but I failed to see That the ones who'd get ahead were them instead of me. Oh, as a matter of fact, I invented pain If you don't want to draw blood, don't shave against the grain. All the kids have gone and grown (or so they claim to folks and mirrors) But the attributes they've shown Have blossomed, bloomed and can't be clearer Oh, if you're torn up inside, don't appeal to me You're the one who lived your life by the wrong philosophy.
7.
I got a note from the highest bidder He wants to know what he's bidding for He threatens me with legal muscle Even greater than before I was advised just to do my own thing Masochists are welcome to try They said I can't set up in the market Cause they don't know what I supply.
8.
Life is a bitch, when it's over you die And never mind what people will tell you Nobody knows what this ending implies Except for the folks with a snake oil to sell you Most people choose just to lead "normal" lives - A home and a job - not you, you know better Seems like those folks are all empty inside So choose Option B, for sure, but just remember: Don't get played for a fool Every game has its rules And they are enforced, no matter what people say They say not to conform To what they see as the norm But they got norms of their own that must be obeyed Well some people follow, and some people lead Hey that's how it is, and no one can change it Maybe we want to, and maybe we need But just watch your step when you're stepping in strange shit Stay far away from the flakes and the frauds Trust how you feel, as much as you're able Don't just be part of someone's entourage Find your own dish to bring to the table.

All in Time 02:23
Oh the world seems to weigh down too much for my taste We should turn back the clock, for it seems such a waste But don't worry, just close your eyes We can do just so much for our size Hunker down and plug away I don't know how, but we'll find some way All in time I can wipe off your tears, but it's all right to weep Put your breast on my back, we can float off to sleep We can trip, but let's try not to fall We just have to look forward is all In our little corner, we'll keep on plugging away I don't know how, but we'll find some way All in time.
10.
I recall a fruitless search, a bandit's maid, a parrot's perch A misdirected frantic lurch toward some obscene goal Your father spoke the words to me: you see the way you want to see, You cast aside the recipe, the dish destroyed the bowl.
11.
Automatic gut reflex refusal of the stats upon a quick perusal of these: the trans-Atlantic breeze, the verb, the clause, the noun Straight for tomorrow's sound, your luck's gonna turn around I never have known any real kind of pain But I'm complaining all the same Oh leave it alone, I could explain But then it wouldn't be the same. Fisticuffs out in the frozen garden Just a year now, but the trade has hardened me.
12.
When you prostitute yourself out for free They'll get what they paid for, just you wait and see Batten down the hatches, break down all the doors Let's make Hollywood worth dying for! So do your thing, go where you go But deep inside, I know you know: It won't work But it's hard to know the policy You can't express it in front of me Well it's hard to know just how to feel I can taste success, and it tastes surreal. I know you know.......
